Understanding and Managing Persistent Cancer-Related Fatigue

This project  for St James’s Hospital was winner of the overall An Duais Mhór prize at the Irish Healthcare Awards 2012. ‘Understanding and Managing Persistent Cancer-Related Fatigue’ - a self-help psycho-oncology programme, which uses cognitive behavioural strategies to help patients better understand and manage their persistent cancer-related fatigue. The St James’s team have to date distributed some 4,000 copies of the Manual and DVD to hospitals across the country.

At Principle, we worked closely with the Dr Sonya Collier and Dr Anne-Marie O’Dwyer over a year to design the programme Manual. From its initial concept we tried to design a manual that would not only be creative but informative and easy to follow and ultimately durable for the period of use.

Dr. Sonya Collier:
“Hi Andrew, Just a quick note to let you know that our Persistent Cancer Related Fatigue Manual and DVD won 2 awards at the recent Irish Medical Times - Irish Healthcare Awards.  We were presented with the Best Hospital Project award and then much to the delight and surprise of our team were announced as winners of An Dhuis Mhor for best overall project 2012.  The superb quality of the manual and DVD were commended on by judges.  I continue to be very grateful to you both for the wonderful job and time and effort you put in.”
